TDC 585

Conditioning chamber for neutralizing small filter elements and media

International test standard ISO 16890-4 requires the neutralization of the filter element to be tested by treatment with gaseous isopropyl alcohol (IPA). The TDC 585 was developed for this application. This system is desiged specifically for small filters and filter media to be conditioned in accordance with ISO 16890-4.

The TDC 585 was development folloiwing the sucsess of the patented Topas innovation TDC 584, the conditioning chamber neutralization of larger filter elements and media sizes. From User feed back, the need arose to condition and test filter media with small dimensions. For this purpose, a significantly lower conditioning volume is required, which also leads to a lower safety risk. The resulting solution TDC 585 has a safety assessment and must be used in an ATEX fume cupboard.

Advantages

  • Simple and safe handling
  • Minimal use of hazardous substances (IPA)
  • Operation without electricity and compressed air

As part of the conditioning process, the test specimen is exposed to an isopropanol-saturated atmosphere for several hours. After inserting the test specimens, the chamber is closed and IPA is filled in, which forms a thin film on the bottom and evaporates under laboratory conditions. The test specimen remains in this atmosphere for several hours until the remaining IPA is drained into a bottle and the lid is opened under a fume hood.
